Michael Sonnleitner, O.D. Dr. Sonnleitner graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley, where he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He splits his time between the two practices, specializing in contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy, laser vision correction co-management, cataract and glaucoma co-management, and nutrition (especially relating to macular degeneration and cataracts). He is also TPA certified by the state of California, which allows him to use therapeutic drugs in the treatment of certain eye diseases. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Monterey Bay Optometric Society. He is a past member of The Flying Doctors and has established eye clinics for the treatment of indigent people of various cultures. Outside the office, Dr. Sonnleitner spends time with his family, practices karate, and rides his motorcycle.
Jennifer Zee, O.D. Dr. Zee received her Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor's degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. She has been working at the Capitola practice since 2001, and enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including babies in the InfantSee Program. Her scope of practice includes fitting specialty contact lenses, determining difficult spectacle prescriptions, evaluating and managing LASIK and other surgeries, and treating medical conditions of the eye. Dr. Zee, her husband, and her little boy live in Santa Cruz.
Diem Tran, O.D. Dr. Diem Tran received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Tran left sunny San Diego for New York City to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY). She completed her ocular disease training at Northport VA Medical Center in Long Island, and her specialized clinical training in vision therapy and pediatric optometry at SUNY. Dr. Tran loves working with children and enjoys helping those with learning-related vision problems, strabismus, and lazy eye.
Dr. Tran is TPA-certified and licensed by the California Board of Optometry to treat eye diseases and infections. She performs full scopy optometry including primary care, contact lenses, vision therapy, infant exams, treatment of eye infections and allergies, and LASIK co-management.
Dr. Tran grew up in the Bay Area with her parents and four sisters. Outside the office, Dr. Tran enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with her new baby boy. Dr. Tran speaks English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
